David and Marta Cavallo hadn't really planned on having more than one child after their son, Marcus came into the world during the winter of 1981 in Longport. They were young, didn't really know what they were getting into and Marcus was quite the handful from the beginning. As soon as he was mobile enough he was getting into everything he was able to. The two young parents decided that they wouldn't have any more children after Marcus, figuring he was enough for the two of them. That remained true until the summer of 1986 when Jakob was born. He was quite the surprise baby but welcome nonetheles.

Early on, Jake was the polar opposite of his older brother; content to be quiet and just watch as the world moved on around him. As he grew older he was still pretty quiet and pretty shy around people he didn't know, although he could (and would) talk up quite th storm around family and friends. As far as brothers went, Jake and Marcus got along pretty well. Jake was often seen following his older brother around; much to the chagrin of Marcus but for the most part they managed to get along. It shouldn't have been such a surprise that when Marcus received a guitar as a birthday present that Jake was right behind him wanting to learn to play as well. And when his older brother eventually tired of the guitar, Jake was there to pick it up instead. It wasn't even the fact that he knew how to play or had some lofty notion of becoming a rock star (although he would've taken it!) but it was more that he found something that he was good at and could keep his attention. or awhile he just made a bunch of noise until his parents could afford to give the young boy lessons. Once he had a few lessons under his belt, things started to come a bit easier for Jake. He found that he had a pretty natural ability to pick up chords and notes quickly.

Instead of heading off to college like the rest of his friends when the time came, Jake stayed at home with a couple of other friends who had lofty dreams to make a band work. It was something his parents and older brother weren't sure would ever really work out and unfortunately, they ended up being right. Jake floundered a bit, working random jobs whenever he could and thought of going on to college. But eventually Jake got hooked up with a local band that was doing tours up and down the East Coast and joined them on the road as their merch/tech person. It wasn't the glamorous "rock star" life in the least but at least it got him on the road and Jake found that he liked the grueling, often thankless work that came along with being shoved in a van with four other guys. That first tour would lead to others with different bands and soon Jake was spending more and more time on the road and less time in Longport.

But as the summer of '08 wound down, Jake found himself back home and for the first time in awhile without another touring jaunt to look forward to. He stayed with his parents for awhile before finding a cheap (and small) enough apartment and a steady enough job working for Best Buy. Being back in Longport full-time has taken a bit of adjusting but a part of Jake is glad to be back. While he enjoys being on the road and being around people who like the same things he does, there's nothing quite like being back at home.
